P14 Certification Frédéric Déliot CEA-Saclay • MuoCandidate: • new structure • functionalities/developments • quality criteria: • proposed new criteria according to muon types • preliminary efficiencies
MuoCandReco p13_02_tree p13_02_tuple thumbnail root-tuple thumbnail root-tree MuonParticleChunk MuonFromChunk MuonFromTuple MuonFromTree Certification MuoCandidate MuoCandidate b-tagging display missing Et … Certification MuonParticleChunk’ list of MuoCandidates analysis format thumbnail root-tree root-tuple MuoCandidateChunk MuoCandidate New Structure • like the EM candidate code: • run on thumbnail and recreate a certified MuonParticleChunk (d0reco chunk) with additional variables • only one interface: chunks New Old Beaune Workshop
p14 MuoCandidate • framework: • p15 ( p15.03.00) will be the base release for p14 muon analyses • in the muonid package, call for a specific RCP (post-processing) • can be run on p13 tmb • some functionalities and developments: • remove remaining duplicates (nseg: +2/+2, +1/+2) • compute isolation variables (Halo, track isolation) • access stored hits (Lucas) and error words (Christophe) • developments: • rebuild MTCs including EM informations (Mark) • use road-method to find MTCs • rematching nseg = +1 (Gtrack+A) with BC segment (nseg=-2): ||1 Beaune Workshop
Quality criteria • which cuts cause the efficiency losses: • mostly: BC scintillator requirement in the central region MC single (10 GeV) # BC scint > 0 Beaune Workshop
BC scintillator cut MC single (10 GeV) • relax this cut if: 0 < # BC wires < 4 Beaune Workshop
Different Muon Types • muon types according to the nb of segments: • nseg=1: Gtrack + A segment • nseg=2: Gtrack + BC segment those are well reconstructed muons specific criteria for octant 5 and 6 Beaune Workshop
nseg = 1 • low pt or misreconstructed ? • nseg=1: A segment properly matched with a central track: estimation of the energy loss in the calorimeter and in the toroid: • enough energy to cross the toroid loose muon (#wire>1, #scint>0) except in the bottom part (medium) • low p medium muon (#wire>1, #scint>0) Armand Zylberstejn Probability to have simulation hits (d0gstar) at the A layer per p bin Beaune Workshop
Proposed Criteria • different criteria according to muon types: • nseg=1: # wire>1, # scint > 0 loose if low p medium if in octant 5,6 et || < 1.6 medium • nseg=2: # wire>1, (# scint > 0 || # wire < 4) loose if in octant 5,6 et || < 1.6 medium • |nseg|=3: (wA>1 || sA>0), wBC>1, (sBC > 0 || # wBC < 4) medium loose: allow 1 requirement to fail • require at least one scintillator for loose |nseg|=3 ? • needed to remove halo muons ? • closer to trigger requirement ? Beaune Workshop
Efficiencies • preliminary efficiencies (no acceptance corrections for MC): Old New MC Single muon (10GeV) L: 88.9 % M: 77.6% L: 86.6 % M: 69.5% MC J/ L: 30.4 % M: 25.0% L: 67.1 % M: 52.9% MC Z L: 92.2 % M: 60.8% L: 92.2 % M: 74.5% Emily’s picked Z sample L: 88.0 % M: 71.9% L: 90.3 % M: 79.0% Beaune Workshop
Conclusion • MuoCandidate: • new structure in place • still to do: • some adjustements • study rematching nseg = +1,-2 in ||1 • MTCs • standard tools to compute some • efficiencies/resolutions (as EM people: muo_cert) • quality criteria: • looks promising in term of efficiency • more studies to be done (help is welcome): • low pt: background/fakes, efficiency on J/data • impact of “at least one scintillator requirement” on efficiency (loose |nseg|=3 definition) • at some point, we have to decide !
