Mark: Important Events & Issues • Q: Greed and covetousness hindered the young ruler’s relationship with God. Is it hindering yours? Are other concerns hindering that relationship? • Q: Why is our “goodness” incapable of saving us (v.18)?
Mark: Important Events & Issues • Genuine Greatness (Mark 10:35-45). • Q: What was the issue in this text? • Q: What does it mean to be “great” in Christian culture?
Mark: Important Events & Issues • “Christians [are] not to show greatness by flaunting their authority over others. Genuine greatness [comes] from demonstrating love through serving others. A Christian becomes great by serving others, not exercising power.” • --Thomas Lea & Tom Hudson • Step by Step Through the N.T., p. 70
