  5. Honors Transfer Program is a GREAT option for: • Students who want a challenging academic environment • Perhaps haven’t decided on a major or a college • See the value and benefits of completing their first two years at Cabrillo

  6. Financial Savings • University education is expensive • Even with Financial Aid – think about how much education you will need … Doctor – Lawyer – Teacher – Scientist – Counselor – Social Worker – Business Woman/Man All require more education beyond a 4-year degree

What do the universities say? • Cabrillo students are not only well-prepared – they are often better prepared than their native students who started as Freshman • The most competitive universities in California know that our Honors students are top-notch: • UCLA admitted 89% of our Honors Scholars who applied for Fall of 2012 • UC Berkeley admitted 100% of our Honors Scholars who applied for Fall of 2012 • Transfer students in general are more attractive to the universities – proven ability at the college level.

What will it be like to attend Cabrillo and the Honors Transfer Program? • Immediate group of like-minded, high-achieving students who want to learn – taking many of the same classes together – friends/study partners • Activities and events that bring you together with your cohort • Professors who know you and your specific interests and goals • Counselors who guide you to your goals • Caution to parents: your Student is in college … needs space and time to study.

WHAT is required to Apply: • 3.5 high school weighted GPA in A-G requirements • Eligible for college-level English - placement into ENGL 1A • Letter of Recommendation • Personal Statement – 250 word essay Honors Transfer Program HOW to apply? WHEN to apply? • Submit on-line application to include essay • Mail: official transcript with Fall grades and letter of recommendation • Take English assessment at Cabrillo or submit EAP: “ready for CSU or participating CCC college-level English” or AP English scores of 4 or higher • Apply for Cabrillo College – separate via CCC Apply • Participate in RunningStart • February 1st – April 15th, 2013 • All paperwork must be received • by April 15th!
