The Wordy Bit… • Finding out new things about language by using a clear and open process that others can understand • Finding out some sort of ‘truth’ about how language works – so be prepared to work with what your data ‘throws up’ • Grounded in data and lead to objective conclusions rather than subjective

  3. Structure • 2,500 words – doesn’t include data or appendices • The investigation is 20% of your A Level • 50 marks • Introduction • Methodology • Analysis • Conclusion and evaluation • Bibliography and references • Appendices and data

  4. Example Investigations 1 Hour • Look at the example projects around you • Choose one project to read through • Can you spot any pitfalls? • What worked well? • Did anything surprise you? TASK: Using the post-its and the flip chart paper, create a display of your feedback
