Recent Headlines… “California Libraries See Budget Crunch” • Lateness of budget submission means the loss of about $15 million in state funds to libraries of all sizes. • Governor removed a total of $8 million from the Public Library Foundation, which doles out state dollars to local libraries. Only $14.4 million remains for 181 libraries statewide. • Another $7 million was removed from the Transaction Based Reimbursement Program, which helps libraries finance inter-library loans.   3. Recent Headlines… “California Libraries See Budget Crunch” • Impact to MPL monies from the state Public Library Foundation: $11,876 in 07/08 vs. $17,752 in 06/05. A reduction of $5876. • The impact to MPL for the Transaction Based Reimbursement Program, for inter-library loans, will not be determined until the all the quarterly state surveys are completed.

  4. …Recent Headlines “San Francisco Public Library Budget Increases 6.5%” • SFPL users enjoy expanded hours and an enhanced book collection thanks to increased budget. • SFPL's operating budget for FY 2007-08 is $75.1 million, a 6.5% increase over last year. • 35% ($1.6 million) will go to the book and materials collection, a 22% increase over the last year’s $7.8 million. • Enhancements will be made to new/renewed electronic databases, computer and travel books, and international language materials.
