Obstacles to double or joint PhD Degree • American universities hesitate to “share” their degrees • Duration: - Graduate school 5 years (min.) - Master 2 years + Thèse 3 years (min.) • Problem of Tuition fees: home university? • Best: partnership Graduate School – ED cf Erasmus Mundus for Doctorates example: Bordeaux-UCF Orlando (1994) 10 cotutelles Better attractivity through international offer
