2. First, let’s learn the steps to access USU databases: please go to our site http://www.usuniversity.edu and select Library (1). Click on Full Text Database Nursing or any College (2). 3. Click Subjects and select MEDLINE – MeSH 2015 Terms and medical terminology can be searched on this screen. It is important to go through the tutorial first. Type Chemotherapy or any disease, organ or treatment. Select any of the 3 options and click “Browse”. Learned from the results, the 3 options are different.

4. If you have not seeing the tutorial, please take the time now. You need to know this information. For Agents, Cancer Chemotherapy USE Antineoplastic Agents. Then explode the term and select the subheadings. Click linked term for tree view Check box to view subheadings Click

5. To limit your results, please select Full Text, Peer Reviewed, and from 2009 to present.

6. Learn about “Pulmonary Disease” and all the possible combinations of terms, as well as the right “term” used by Medline. For example, Pulmonary disease, Use: Lung Diseases. By searching the right terms, we retrieve the right articles. For the next example the following terms were selected: Pulmonary Diseases, Chronic Obstructive AND Epidemiology Please, check box to view subheadings Click Check box for Epidemiology

7. To limit your results, please select Full Text, Peer Reviewed, and from 2009 to present.

8. One more example, from “Subjects” MEDLINE- Mesh 2015 type TUBERCULOSIS. let’s click the link Tuberculosis for Tree View and Explode by checking the box to select subheadings. To view results please select “Search Database”

10. MEDLINE INDEXES: Another option to search Medline is through “Indexes”. Please open “More” select “Indexes” and “MEDLINE with Full Text”.From “Browse an Index” select MeSH Heading (Major), please type “Browse for” Code Liver Oil or your term and select “Browse” (2). From the results, select one or more terms, please see “Records Count” (3) and add to search using “and”. Click “Add” (4) and click Search. 1 2 4 3

12. You have learned how to find your terms, and in this particular case, how to search MeSH terms. The next step is to write the terms in the search boxes, see examples: *Note: Searching MeSH the results are less and more relevant
