  2. THEMES • Today I am going to talk about the themes in My Side of the Mountain. There are a few themes, but I will only state 3. • Survival • Adventure • Environment

  3. SURVIVAL • The theme survival is a very important theme. This is because there is a young boy aged 12 who is trying to survive in the Catskill mountains. He is attempting to live all by himself therefore he is surviving on his own. EXAMPLE/S -Sam is surviving on his own in the Catskills.

  4. ADVENTURE • The boy, Sam is having an adventure by living and exploring by himself. He is also meeting new people/things and “adventursing.” EXAMPLE/S -Sam goes around “adventurising” the Catskills.

  5. FRIENDSHIP • Friendship is important in this book because Sam makes lots of new friends. He also mentions in the book that making friends is important otherwise he’ll be very lonely. EXAMPLE/S -Sam makes friends with the Baron Weasel, and now he’s accompanying him. -Her makes friends with the librarian, Miss Turner and she helps Sam.
