Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy: The Basics • Main purpose is to identify economic opportunities, goals, projects and an action plan to complete projects in the region • Strategy development is funded by Economic Development Administration (EDA) • EDA approved strategy qualifies region to apply for applicable funding

  3. New Approach:Regional Development Initiative …comprehensive, coordinated, and continued development and implementation of regional plans and planning efforts…

  4. Regional Development Committee • Long-term, multi-disciplinary, region wide committee • Guides development of region wide plans including CEDS, Long-Range Transportation Plan, and ad-hoc planning efforts, e.g. community survey • Build ownership and likelihood of plan implementation
