  4. Membership • Class of 2011 23 • Class of 2012 42 • Class of 2013 44 • Total 109

  5. Application and Selection Process • GPA of 85% after two (2) quarters of osteopathic education • Members must maintain and average of 80% following induction • Primary recruitment occurs in the spring, secondary recruitment occurs in the fall. • Paper application is anonymous. Application evaluated based on service and leadership. • Qualified applicants invited to interview with current members in order to assess interpersonal skills and passion for service.

  6. Financial Report • Chapter Balance as of 10/24/10: $1,579.66 • Will be used for meetings and future projects • Awaiting possible $1,000 project funding from SGA • Membership Dues $75/person • National Dues $35/person

  7. Meetings • First Meeting: Induction of members of Class of 2013 • Second Meeting: Preparation and organization for Designated Driver Program • Third Meeting: Organizational, service project brainstorming, calendar • Fourth Meeting: Induction of New Members of Class of 2013 (9 spots available, 24 applications) • Fifth Meeting: Preparation for Boy Scout Merit Badge College

  8. Future Meetings • Sixth Meeting: USMLE vs. COMLEX “Tips & Tricks for Board Review” open to the entire class, presented by Tim Tucker • Seventh Meeting: “Sigma Sigma Phi 101” Informational meeting for Class of 2014

  9. Service • Designated Driver Program • Drivers were provided for the graduating Class of 2010. They celebrated their accomplishment with a bonfire and we were available to provide safe transportation home for them

  10. Service • KCOM Activities Fair • Executive Officers distributed information regarding the standards of Sigma Sigma Phi • Encouraged new students to participate in the myriad of service opportunities available • Informed students of meeting in the spring for further information

  11. Service • Dr. Bag Program • Members visited local preschools and kindergarten classes • Local children learned about the instruments used by doctors and nurses • Children had the opportunity to ask questions and share stories regarding their experiences with their doctor!

  12. More Service! • Boy/Girl Scout Merit Badge College • Completed all objectives necessary for boys to earn Medicine badge, girls earned Health badge

  13. Service • Truman State University Pre-Med Mentoring Program and Panel • Give opportunity to students to ask any question • Provide a mentor long-term for each student

  15. Disaster Preparedness and Awareness Day On May 13, 2009 an F2 tornado struck Kirksville killing 2 people and doing extensive damage to the city. Thankfully, the triage capabilities of the hospital and emergency response teams were not overwhelmed. Since that may not always be the case, it is imperative for the whole community to be educated on the appropriate response to an emergency situation.
