  1. ELA 9-5-14 Reminders: Get on Collaborize Classroom to respond to the posted question. Add to the blog. It’s worth 10 points. Monday is the first SAT vocab test. September 22nd will be the Unit 2 test. Turn in your Field Trip permission slip and money.

  2. Agenda: • 1. Warm-up Quiz • 2. QHT for Springboard Vocabulary; complete for the 2nd time. • 3. Look at p. 13 for two strategies: Close Reading & Marking the Text. • 4. Listen to “My Superpowers” on page 14 as it is read to you.

  3. Continued… • Close Read with group while Marking your Text for the following: • a. Circle descriptions of setting with a green colored pencil. • b. Circle the major incident with a redcolored pencil. • c. Circle the narrator’s response to the incident with a blue colored pencil. • d. Circle the reflection about the incident with a yellow colored pencil or highlighter.

  4. Sequence of Events • 1. Now, with the help of your group, number the five main events in chronological order. • 2. Create a Story Board for “My Superpowers”. • 3. Use the following scoring guide to ensure an “A”.

  5. Story Board Scoring Guide • Notice the example is rather detailed, and contains few words • 1. (5): 5 DETAILED story board illustrations • 2. (5): The illustrations follow the story’s sequence of events. • 3. (5): The illustrations are colored/shaded in well. • 4. (5): The sequence of events is accurate, and tells the story.
