Starvation Throughout Our World • In 2002 Africa had 2.6 million people who were malnourished and starving. • In 2008 Asia held nearly two-thirds of the world’s starving people, from just 7 countries: India, China, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Ethiopia. • In 2007 the sub-region had 51 million people who were malnourished and starving. • In the Near East and North America had 15 million people who were under the nutrition level.
The Effects of Worldwide Starvation • People are dying by the millions every year because of malnutrition. It ranges from 4 million to 16 million per year. • Even though the effects can be undone not all of the effects will go away. For instance, it can cause organ damage and cardiovascular problems. Starvation can and will lead to death especially in unsupervised children.
The Solutions • The wealthier nations could start up collections for those in need or those who can’t afford a simple meal. The only things in our ways are the corrupted government, wars, etc. • There are several different organizations that help with the starvation all over the world. Those organizations include Heifer International and free rice.
The Reason Why People are Malnourished • The reason why people are still malnourished is because people who can help have a lack of inspiration to help those in need and less fortunate. • Another reason could be that the less fortunate are too poor to buy enough food to fill them up completely every night. • Staving people usually occur in famine infested developing countries along with people with eating disorders like anorexia.
