  2. Why? • To give a real life starting point and context to our ‘Incredible India’ unit. • To creatively teach some of the geography Programmes of Study. • To engage and motivate the children from the outset.

  3. How can we make it real? • Suitcases were brought in containing a change of summer clothes. • The children were given passports and boarding passes. • A map of the world was given to plot the flight path to India. • A pilot podcast was created to create a realistic atmosphere. • A video was shown to simulate the take off from London Heathrow. • In flight food and entertainment. • The children were given Rupees to buy food.

  4. The Passport • Was made using a Publisher template. • Had a copy of the British passport cover. • Was completed by the children before the flight. • Was checked and stamped when leaving London Heathrow Airport.

  5. The boarding pass • Was made to look realistic, including the Air India logo. • Was stamped as they left LHR. • Was torn as they boarded the plane so that they could be shown to their seats.

  6. London Heathrow Airport! “Did you pack your case yourself?” “Please make sure you don’t leave your luggage unattended!!”

  7. London Heathrow Airport! “Enjoy your flight to Delhi. Please make your way onto the plane.” “Good morning Sir or Madam can I check your passport and your boarding pass please…?” “Please have your passports and boarding passes ready…”
