  2. Global Committee Mission • Current/effective Mission Statement: • To expand awareness of and promote the inclusion of software security best practices in Industry, Government, Academia and regulatory agencies and be a voice for industry. We will accomplish this through outreach; including presentations, development of position papers and collaborative efforts with other entities • GIC proposed new Mission Statement: • To expand the engagement of OWASP and its mission amongst the public and private sector verticals, through outreach; including presentations, development of position papers and collaborative efforts.  The Global Industry Committee serves as the voice of OWASP within the public and private sector and the channel through which OWASP aligns its efforts to the demands of the market.

  3. Committee members • Chair: Joe Bernik • Members: • Lorna Alamri, Rex Booth, David Campbell, Alexander Fry, Georg Hess, Colin Watson, • Mauro Florez, Mateo Martinez • Applicants: Nishi Kumar, Michael Scovetta

  4. Accomplishments in march • 1. Budget Update: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0ApZ9zE0hx0LNdEpRbVhBUEljMGpLNnVJa0FHeWZwMkE&hl=en&authkey=CPjLgdwN • Our funding priorities $400 to host a GIC survey (created by EK) on Survey Monkey & $ 10,000 for GIC outreach activities at AppSec EU. • 2. Created standard list of industry verticals – first step in organizing large scale outreach effort at appsec conferences and other industry conferences that OWASP has not traditionally been involved in. • 3. David Campbell participated in an OWASP Panel at BrighttalkAppsec Summit – March 16 (results forthcoming) • 4. Discussion within GIC and with Membership (Dan Cornell) on what we can do to draw in more corporate members/sponsors. Possible 3rd membership option that is less than the corporate membership $5000, but more than $50 individual membership.

  5. Items that need Board Vote/approval • Budget • Committee needs $400 asap to post and disseminate GIC survey on Survey Monkey. Committee also needs $10,000 asapfor GIC working sessions at appsecEU– will enable to help with travel for 10-12 people. • Overall budget request for 2011 is $49,000 - details are available here: https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0ApZ9zE0hx0LNdEpRbVhBUEljMGpLNnVJa0FHeWZwMkE&hl=en&authkey=CPjLgdwN • 2. Policy – new mission statement • To expand the engagement of OWASP and its mission amongst the public and private sector verticals, through outreach; including presentations, development of position papers and collaborative efforts.  The Global Industry Committee serves as the voice of OWASP within the public and private sector and the channel through which OWASP aligns its efforts to the demands of the market.

  6. Ongoing projects and efforts • 1. GIC Surveys – one already created by EoinKeary, to be posted and then compiled on Survey Monkey. Second, proposed by Rex Booth to compile industry metrics. • 2. Large scale outreach – working sessions/discussion groups with people from pre-determined verticals at the various appsec conferences. Also, outreach at non-traditional OWASP conferences . What can we use to spread the OWASP word? NK working on PP presentation. • 3. Continue discussion on how to better engage with orgs/corps that have closed their doors to owasp in the past. Without signing an NDA, how can we work with them? Also, what can we offer in terms of sponsorship opportunities that will be more alluring to them?
