MACOORA Demographics • MACOORA footprint encompasses about 23% of the nation’s population • Nine states and the District of Columbia • Five major estuaries
Mission – Our Core Purpose MACOORA – Protecting lives, livelihood and quality of life through anunderstanding of marine and coastal environments
MACOORA Key Events • Organizational Workshop – December 2005 • Elected a Board of Directors • Accepted nearly fifty charter member organizations • Held first Board meeting • Elected Board officers • Incorporated as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation(December 20, 2005)
Board of Directors • Current Board has thirteen members • Three (3) industry • Two (2) governmental agency • Two (2) non-governmental organization • Six (6) academia • Board members serve staggered three-year terms of office
Membership • Organizations only, not individuals • Voting member dues $500 • Non-voting Associate members • Associate dues to be determined
