  3. I will come here for Math: • Go over some of the classroom procedures • Practice fire drill procedure • Create a list of classroom expectations • Ms. Campbell will come here for Science • School Assembly

  5. Guiding Principles • Everyone is unique and has a contribution to make. • Everyone has strengths which must be nurtured and supported. • Everyone has the right to be respected and the responsibility to respect others.

  6. Respectful Classroom Agreements are ways in which we… • Interact with others • Go about our daily activities • Make decisions • Communicate • Care for our environment

  7. Why have classroom agreements? Having respectful classroom agreements are necessary in order to… • create a respectful classroom • where everyonefeels • safe, • accepted and • appreciated.

  8. Respect for self (your character) is developed through the demonstration of: • Responsibility • Honesty • Integrity • Empathy • Fairness • Initiative • Perseverance • Courage • Optimism

  9. Creating Classroom Respect Agreements • 1. Jot down all the ways you can think of to keep our classroom an ideal place for learning • Consider how it will look, sound, feel…

  10. 2. Share ideas with your group by jotting them down in one corner of the placemat template provided. • Leave the centre area blank for now.

  11. 3. Determine 3 or 4 common ideas written in the corners • One person records these common ideas in the center

  12. 4. Person having the next birthday in the group collects the supplies for the next step • In large printing, recopy the ideas from the centre area on the placemat on to the sticky notes provided • ONE IDEA PER STICKY NOTE SHEET • Place sticky notes on the board up front

  13. 5. Sort out suggestions under common headings • 6. Put agreements in P.A.W.S. language • Present-tense • Affirmative • We statements • Short statements
