  4. Noun • A noun is a person, place, or thing • Example Amy is playing with the ball. Amy and ball is a noun.

  5. Verb • A verb is an action word. • Example Sophie iseating her pasta. Eating and is is a verb.

  6. Adverb • An adverb is a word that tells “how”, “were”, and “when” but sometimes it makes words with “LY” • Example • Unfortunately, Sophie hurt her self!!!!

  7. Conjunction • - A conjunction is a word that joins other words, phrases, clauses or sentences. Some conjunctions are: and, as, because, but, or, since, so, until, and while. • Example • Wait until we are there! .

  8. Pronoun • A pronoun is a substitute for a noun. Example It is her birthday!!!

  9. Interjection • An interjection is a word that expresses emotion. • Example • Hurry, we are late!

  10. Adjective • An adjective is a word that describes something. • Example • Amy’s shirt is green. • Green is an adjective.

  11. Preposition • A preposition is a word that shows the spatial (space), temporal (time), or logical relationship of its object to the rest of the sentence. The words above, near, at, by, after, with and from are prepositions. • Example • By Sophie • By is an preposition.
