  1. Science vocab Picture book Weather, climate, solar energy, ultraviolet radiation, dew point, humidity, convection, troposphere

  2. Weather Weather is the state of the atmosphere at any given time and place, using temperature, humidity, wind, and barometric pressure.

  3. Climate Climate is the average weather conditions of an area over a long period of time.

  4. Solar energy Solar Energy is the energy received by the earth from the sun.

  5. Ultraviolet radiation Ultraviolet Radiation is energy from ultraviolet rays from the sun. The ozone layer protects us from most of it, but some gets to the Earth and give us sunburns if we are not well protected.

  6. Dew point Dew point is the temperature at which the rate of condensation meets the rate of evaporation.

  7. Humidity Humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air.

  8. Convection Convection is the transfer of energy through the movement of matter.

  9. Troposphere The troposphere is the layer of the atmosphere closest to Earth. Most weather happens here.
