  1. HP EB2 2010 Motions for Discussion and Decision

  2. Motion 1 ‘That it is up to the discretion of HP delegates to determine whether they assist a worker who was not a member of the union prior to lodging an Intent to Appeal against their Phase 2 outcome with that Appeal process.’ Moved: Ross Uhlmann Seconded: Phil Carswell Voted Carried.

  3. Motion 2 ’That the LHMU and the QPSU combine resources and coordinate bargaining activities for a joint union campaign towards a HP Agreement in 2010. Under the banner of “HP Stronger Together”.’ Moved: Peter Cattach Seconded: Joe Rocco Motion Carried.

  4. Motion 3 ‘ In order to facilitate joint decision making a joint ‘Steering Committee’ of delegates is formed. The proposed model is to have 17 positions on the steering committee (as referenced on Handout) with the number of delegates elected by the members in that profession or division. This may be expanded at a later date, particularly if there is membership growth in particular areas, and new elections can occur at the June 2010 HP Conference. Nominations for the steering committee positions will open today and close on Thursday 1st April at 5pm. Elections will then be conducted by the Union Office. This steering committee will supervise the collection of items for the Log of Claims and advise union officials about how to progress compiling the Log of Claims on this basis. This group will also advise on the process for voting to ‘prioritise’ the whole of HP claims. The Steering Committee is not a voting body.

  5. Motion 3 - continued Each profession or discipline will then decide on prioritisation for profession or discipline-based claims amongst those relevant members. The Steering Committee will ensure reports to all members and delegates are made. The existing HP IBB representatives remain as the HP IBB representatives at this time. Moved: Rod Miles Seconded: Aiden Cook Motion Carried.
