Identified Gaps Digital Initiatives • Lack of integration supportwhich has major impacts related to access and discovery • As an organization, how we preserve our digital content is frightening • There are a lack of clear roles (who does what) • Need to have a serious discussion around comprehensive discovery and who our primary audience that we are try to serve – answers that have significant implications in not only discovery, but how OSUL presents itself to our community • Workflow/processing challenges

Key Recommendations from the White Paper Digital Initiatives Its time for a culture shift • In how we think (i.e., away from departments and units to organizationally) • This thinking needs to permeate everything that we do and be reflected throughout our policies and workflows. Focus on building local knowledge, buy-in, and investment • Around preservation, the digital initiatives principles, in support staff as we work through fundamental shifts in how we create and maintain OSUL’s digital presence. Identify and empower for change • Identifying who is responsible for crafting organizational policies Be purposeful as we move forward; while developing a culture that values curiosity and supports innovative approaches.

Some immediate impacts Digital Initiatives This work is spurring discussions at other institutions Development of a Metadata Working Group Expansion of the Digital Reformatting Working Group’s Charge Investigation of the Libraries’ Master Objects Repository and how the Libraries can do preservation better Moving in new directions • As Mentioned in the General Meeting, the implementation of Fedora, ArchivesSpace, and the Hydra Framework.
