  2. There are five different groupsof animals with vertebrates • Mammals • Reptiles • Fish • Amphibians • Birds

  3. Most mammals have these characteristics: • They are warm-blooded. • They have hair or fur. • Mammals give birth to live animals. • They feed their babies with mothers milk. • Mammals breathe through lungs.

  4. Leopards and lions are both mammals.

  5. Leopards and lions are both mammals. Both are warm-blooded, have fur, give birth to live cubs, feed their babies with mother’s milk, and breathe with lungs.

  6. Lion Baby lions are called cubs. They learn to be fierce by playing with the mother lions.

  7. Lion Lions have strong legs to run fast. They can run up to 40 miles per hour after their favorite meal. They like to eat zebras, warthogs, and buffalo.

  8. Lion The sharp two front teeth help the lion to grip and catch its food. The lion also uses its two top front teeth and it’s bottom two front teeth to help it tear its meat. Lions like to eat deer, zebra, and giraffes.

  9. Lion • Groups of female lions typically hunt together. The females stay in a pride (or family unit) and help protect all the cubs. Lions use their tongues to groom their young.

  10. Lion • The lionesses are the hunters for their pride. Each female has a role in the hunting. They work together to kill their prey. They have sharp teeth to tear the meat apart.

  11. Leopard Leopards have a strong jaw for killing its prey. It has sharp teeth to tear the meat apart. They are meat eaters or omnivores.

  12. Leopards Leopards use their camouflaged body to hide in the bushes. This helps them sneak up on their prey.

  13. Leopards Leopards sneak up on their prey and don’t need a huge roar. They have a raspy, cough. They have strong legs for running down prey.

  14. Leopard • A lion can kill an adult leopard. Leopards have adapted to live alongside these enemies by hunting at different times of the day.

  15. Leopards are fast runners, good swimmers, and excellent tree climbers. They need strong legs to chase their prey. They often hide their food in trees. Leopard Leopards
