  1. Starter • Read p.93 under the visualiser. Summarise the key events of Kristallnacht and devise a method of leaning them. • List game. How many facts about Kristallnacht can your team name?

Main • BBC: Days that Shook the World – Kristallnacht video (30 minutes) could be shown in a follow up lesson to consolidate understanding and emphasise the significance of this particular event – turning point for level of violence towards Jews, mass arrest and detainment in camps and for SS being given overall responsibility for Jewish policy (Also role of Goebbels in promoting anti-semitic policies & how this cemented his relationship with Hitler and position in the regime.

  3. Plenary • Answer practice question in last part of lesson on Explain the importance of Kristallnacht (1938) in the development of the Nazis’ policies towards the Jews. (9 mark question) • Students peer assess each others’ answers. • Students assess progress towards their FFT made this lesson.
