  1. New DOL & Oxetane Monomers from Osaka Organic Chemicals Co., Ltd.San Esters Corporation

  2. OSAKA ORGANIC CHEMICAL • Research oriented monomer manufacturer (over 33% of staff is in R&D functions) • Actively developing new monomers for the radcure and conventional cure industries • Specializing in difficult synthesis and distillation processes • Custom manufacturing inquiries welcome (or for special purity needs)

  3. NEW MONOMERS FROM OOC • DOL Series of Monomers • Dioxolane functional Acrylates & Methacrlyates • Designed as high diluency monomers with low skin irritation • A selection of side groups (Alkyl, Cycloaliphatic, Aryl) allows optimum compatibility with different UV cure systems

  4. MEDOL 10 & MIBDOL 10 • Low viscosity diluent acrylate monomers as replacements for Tetrahydrofurfuryl acrylate (THFA) • Very low skin irritation, Below 1.3 P.I.I. (Draize) compared to THFA’s severe irritation, P.I.I.>5.0 • Much less odor than THFA • Slower evaporation rates than THFA (approx. 50% slower)

  5. Medol 10, 30 VISCOSITY (mPa•s) 5.1 4.8 P.I.I. (DRAIZE) 1.3 - DENSITY 1.0561 1.0384 SURFACE TENSION 32.3 31.4 (DYNES/CM) Tg -7

  6. Mibdol 10, 30 VISCOSITY (mPA•s) 5.3 5.3 P.I.I. (DRAIZE) 1.0 - DENSITY 1.0172 1.0051 SURFACE TENSION 29.9 29.1 (dynes/cm) Tg (°C) -19

  7. Chdol -10, 30 VISCOSITY (mPa•s) 16.9 14.3 P.I.I (DRAIZE) .55 - DENSITY 1.1037 1.0828 SURFACE TENSION 37.4 35.7 (dynes/cm) Tg (°C) 22 -

  8. MMDOL 30 VISCOSITY (mPa•s) 4.1 DENSITY 1.0503 SURFACE TENSION 31.1

  9. DOL SERIES (ACRYLATES)

  10. DOL SERIES (METHACRYLATES)

  11. Dilution Ability

  12. Reaction Speed

  13. Formulation • Sample : Base resin : Irg907 : DETX = 50 : 50 : 3 : 1 • Base resin = Viscoat 540: Viscoat 360 = 4:1

  14. DOL MONOMERS • Newly developed chemistry • Samples of Medol 10 and Mibdol 10 available now • Japanese Miti low volume exemption pending for Medol 10 • TSCA, Einecs applications to be based on commercial interest

  15. OXETANE (METH)ACRYLATE • Newly developed low viscosity monomers • Potential for dual cure reactions • Form Oxetane functional oligomers, resins or primer films by free radical reaction • Catonic cure or crosslink as second step

  16. OXE – 10 OXETANE ACRYLATE NO CAS # ASSIGNED (3-ETHYL-3-OXETANYL) METHYL ACRYLATE OR 3-ETHYL-3-(METHYL ACRYLATE) OXETANE CLEAR TRANSPARENT LIQUID BOILING POINT 72-74 °C @ 2.5 mmHg DENSITY 1.036 VISCOSITY 4.29 cps (25°C) INHIBITOR 500 ppm MEHQ
