Why Change? Purpose: To better align school and district planning • Under the old timeline, plans were due in December • Plans due in December are a report not a plan • Schools received feedback too late to make necessary changes to the plan • Planning cycle was not aligned with Perkins program planning and budgeting cycles
Timeline Change Transition • 2010-2011 is a transition year • By September 2011, all schools will be on the same planning cycle • Applies to both Comprehensive CTCs and Part Time CTCs • Comprehensive CTCs identified for School Improvement by not meeting AYP under NCLB • Part Time CTCs identified for the TAP Program
Details for Comprehensive CTCs • Comprehensive CTCs will use the new online Getting Results planning tool to develop and complete a plan • Information for accessing the online will be sent in AYP notification letters

Comprehensive CTCs in School Improvement I • Currently DO NOT have a plan on file, but a plan is required for compliance with NCLB • Must develop a plan and submit the plan to PDE by December 22, 2010 using the new online tool • This plan is a two year plan that will be implemented during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 school years

What’s Different for Part Time CTCs? • Cohorts 1 & 2 must reflect on the implementation of the previous year’s plan • Cohorts 1 & 2 will receive their plan on a CD from their CT DSL which will be pre-populated with the strategies from their 2009-10 plan – ready for reflection • Part Time CTCs in TAP Cohort 3 will be developing a two-year plan for 2010-11 & 2011-12 school years

What should a school do now? • Continue to monitor the implementation and effectiveness of the current plan • Make modifications to the plan as needed based upon current data • Contact your CT Distinguished School Leader or local intermediate unit with questions beginning in September
