Perspective Let’s do this
WHAT IS PERSPECTIVE? • The art of drawing solid objects (3D objects) on a two-dimensional surface (paper) to give the right impression of their height, width, depth, and length. • A picture drawn in such a way, to make it look enlarged or to extend the actual space, or to give the effect of distance (make it look 3D).
THE 2 MOST IMPORTANT COMPONENTS OF PERSPECTIVE DRAWING: • 1. HORIZON LINE! • A horizontal line across a drawing that is usually at eye level. • 2. VANISHING POINT! • A point on the horizon line in perspective drawing that all receding parallel lines converge.
ONE POINT PERSPECTIVE • Is linear perspective • Includes a horizon line • Has ONE vanishing point • All diagonal lines radiate from the vanishing point • All horizontal and vertical lines intersect
TWO POINT PERSPECTIVE • Is linear perspective • Represents a 3D object in space • Includes a horizon line • Has TWO vanishing points • All horizontal and vertical lines intersect
Let’s Draw Together! • Take out a pencil – no pens! • Get out your sketchbook! • Wait QUIETLY for directions
So what? Now what? • 1. We will be drawing one point perspective together. • 2. We will be drawing two point perspective together. • 3. Your final project will be a two point perspective city scape. • You will be using pen, ink, pencils and watercolor. • You will need to graffiti a message on the buildings. • You will be writing and researching about inner-city issues
