DR Backup Components – Configuration Data • Data may be stored on: • Floppy disk • Memory stick • Hard disk • Network share • As part of the Backup Image • Information such as: • Number of hard disks • Partition information • OS/CBMR Installation paths • Backup Device configuration • Disk Controller, NIC and other drivers needed to prepare machine for recovery

DR Backup Components – Operating System Data • CBMR for Windows uses an Open File Manager to ensure a single point in time set of files (uses Microsoft VSS in Windows XP/2003/2008) • CBMR backs up the System to a dedicated Backup Location (File Device, Local Tape Device etc) • Weekly • The standard backup data includes: • Boot files • Windows directory • Documents and Settings • CBMR directory

CBMR for Windows – Disaster Recovery Process • Repair your hardware and set up the RAID if necessary • Boot from the CBMR media • Retrieve the configuration information • Restore the CBMR operating system backup 5. Boot into recovered Windows operating system 6. Restore Applications and Databases from your Backups Push Windows storage drivers onto recovered machine
