  4. The Dragon Boat Festival, the 5th day of the 5th month in the Chinese lunar calendar, has had a history of more than 2,000 years. It is usually in June in the Solar calendar. The Double Fifth Festival

  5. Dragon Boat Festival is a very important festival to our Chinese people. Our country attaches great importance to the protection of this intangible cultural heritage.（非物质文化）.

  6. There are many legends about the evolution of the festival, the most popular of which is in commemoration of Qu Yuan (340-278 BC).

  7. QuYuan was a minister of the State of Chu during the Warring States Period(475-221BC)（战国时期）. He was upright and loyal. However, a dishonest and corrupt prince vilified(诽谤） QuYuan, so, he was disgraced and dismissed from office. Realizing that the country was now in the hands of evil and corrupt officials, QuYuan grabbed a large stone and leapt into the Miluo River on the fifth day of the fifth month.

  8. After his death, the people of Chu crowded to the bank of the river to pay their respects to him. People threw rice dumplings and eggs into the water to feed fishes in order to protect QuYuan’s body.

  9. The fillings of rice dumplings are very diversified, including jujube , beans, fresh meat , ham and egg yolk. Rice Dumplings People will soak glutinous rice, wash reed leaves and wrap up rice dumplings themselves.

  10. Dragon Boat Race Folk tales say the game originates from the activities of seeking Qu Yuan‘s body . people will see racers in dragon-shaped canoes pulling the oars harmoniously and hurriedly, accompanied by rapid drums, speeding toward their destination.

  11. Hanging Calamus and Moxa During the Dragon Boat Festival ,every family will hang calamus and moxa on the door to ward off evil.

  12. Realgar Wine It is a very traditional practice to drink this kind of Chinese liquor at the Dragon Boat Festival for protecting people from evils and diseases.

  13. Spice Bag During the Dragon Boat festival ,people will Carry some small spice bag for driving away evil spirits and bringing fortune and happiness .
