Ms. Kathy Willey’s First Grade Classroom • Please feel free to call or email me to make an appointment for a conference if you should have a question or a concern. Curriculum • McGraw Hill S.R.A Imagine It Reading Series grades 1 • Math: Houghton Mifflin Harcourt GO MATH grade 1 • R.C.L. Religion Series • Social Studies-Houghton Mifflin Social Studies • Science is taught in the classroom. • Handwriting • Spelling • State and Core Standards are followed in all subjects.
Schedule • Special classes: • Monday: Library • Tuesday: Spanish, Computers, Music • Wednesday: P.E. • Thursday: P.E., Music • Snack and Recess are 10:00-10:30. • Lunch and recess are 12:05-1:00.
Discipline Structure • Card pulling system: • Green= warning • Yellow= 5 minute time out at recess • Orange= 10 minute time out at recess • Red= detention, note home, visit to Colonel.
Grading System • A 95-100 D 63-66 • A- 90-94 D- 60-62 • B+87-89 • B 83-86 • B- 80-82 • C+ 77-79 • C 73-76 • C- 70-72 • D+ 67-69
Rewards System • Gold Coins • Gold coins are given for especially good behavior or good work. • Homework completed all week earns a gold coin. • If no cards are pulled all week, 5 gold coins are earned (or a trip to the treasure box). • Gold coins can be traded for special treats from the treasure box. • Table points are also given and the table with the highest points at the end of the week, receives a reward.
Marble Jar • We also have a marble jar that gets filled as the children behave as a class. This stresses a cooperative attitude among the boys. • Marbles can be lost as well if the group misbehaves. • 100 marbles earns a movie and popcorn!
Homework • Homework is given each day except for Friday and returned to school the following day. • Assignments are written by each child in his agenda which must be signed by parents and returned to school the next day. The homework can also be found on my website. • If homework is not completed, a card is pulled and the work will be completed at recess time. • If agenda is not signed, a card will be pulled. • Homework given can be completed by the child without the parent’s help. Parents can check homework for errors….but do not do the work for your child.

I will do my best to get back to you in a timely manner. It is best not to contact the office, as they are not always aware of what is going on in the classroom. So please contact me first.
