MEET THE RIDERS www.TolandsBorderToBorderBenefit.org TERRY TOLAND Terry has been riding bicycles since the age of 3. At 49, he intends to continue cycling until his "spleen falls out" or "the hair from his ears gets tangled in his spokes“. About this ride, Toland says "This ride is about giving back to the community and helping those who really need some assistance. Being homeless and hungry is not a choice for an 8 year old child. I think we can do better than that, and it must start at the local level.” KEVIN PUTNAM Kevin is a cycling junkie. Since he began riding seriously in 2006 and has logged 10,000 miles. He participates in a group of fit riding buddies who crank 40-85 miles per week, year round, rain or shine. Putnam can be found most any weekend, in the hills of Clark County Washington, pushing his own envelope. When asked if he wanted to participate in the Border To Border Benefit event, Kevin said, "When do we start?" SARAH TOLAND She has been riding since she was 4 years old. She is now 14. Sarah will join her sister Shannon, Kevin and Terry on this adventure for a portion of each day. Her goal is to log at least 500 miles so that she can contribute to the benefit as well. When not riding, she will be assisting her Mom and sister in the "Support van". We commend her desire to participate and look forward to the opportunity to ride with her. The 2011 Jean E Toland Memorial Ride To Benefit CH2MHILL SHANNON TOLAND Shannon is the youngest rider. At 11, she is planning to advance her cycling skills in the low traffic portions of the ride. Shannon, will join the team for a portion of each day. Her goal is to log at least 100 miles so that she can contribute to the benefit as well.
