Special Sounds and Vowels There are many sounds that are alike in English as in Spanish, only seven consonant and five vowel sounds are different. Spanish is pronounced exactly as it is written. It is very important that you pronounce all the vowels and consonants.
Always pronounce vowels. Sometimes vowels have an accent mark. This written mark indicates that there is a stronger sound on that vowel. For example: café, papá, adiós, lápiz, México.
