  1. Journal # 8 - Macbeth Act I Scene iii • Below is the Journal Prompt; however, you are not writing the entire journal entry. Read ALL slides. Then, follow the directions on the last slide. • In a journal entry, discuss the significance of Macbeth’s aside in Act I, scene iii as revealed through the dominant tone or the two different but complimentary tones in the passage.

  2. Step 3: Brainstorm evidence that pertains to each tone. Step 4: Choose the evidence you want to develop. Step 5: Brainstorm comments with regards to Step 4. Use single words or short phrases only. Step 1: Write a thesis statement. Step 2: Focus on the tones, one at a time, keeping in mind your thesis. Steps to develop your writing assignment:

Writing • Step 6: Review the prompt and begin writing…. • Polish Step 1 – thesis sentence. • Write a sentence introducing your 1st tone. -If writing on only one tone, move on to evidence. • Write a sentence that presents your first, or only, chosen evidence. • Write two or more sentences that support your evidence, making a clear connection between your evidence and your thesis. Use your best comments from your notes. • Bring closure to your first point.
