October Second Grade Newsletter • Important Dates: • November 13th-Book Fair/MSPA meeting • November 15th-Munn Movie Night • November 21st & 25th-Parent Teacher Conferences Math: This week the students have been reviewing the strategies they have learned for subtraction. We also have been looking at word problems-visualizing them in our head, deciding if they are addition or subtraction, solving them using one of our strategies and writing an equation. We also have been working on our double facts. English Language Arts: This week we finished up our first opinion piece on Wriggly Squiggly. This was independent and will be graded. In centers, we have been working on activities that center around learning how to alphabetize, making words looking for vowels patterns, and identifying parts of speech. In guided reading, we are focusing on making connections and predictions in our books. *Tuesday-Wear red for Red Ribbon Week *Thursdayy-Wear pajamas
