Phelps Luck Elementary SchoolElementary School Model Full Day Pre-Kindergarten • Eligible Students Who Might Not Otherwise Have Access to Rich Learning Experiences • Students who Enter Kindergarten with Strong Language and Social Skills are at an Advantage for Experiencing Future School Success. • School Day Balances Instruction with Play, Movement, and Oral Language Development • Participate in Related Arts and Spanish Instruction

Phelps Luck Elementary SchoolElementary School Model World Language Instruction • Provide Our Students a Future Competitive Advantage When Applying to Colleges or Applying For High Wage Job Opportunities • Students (Pre-K – 5th) are Exposed to Spanish Instruction 20-30 Minutes Daily • As Students Learn a Second Language, Students Learn to Think Flexibly and their Listening and Memory Skills are Enhanced • Supporting academic content area instruction • Promoting global awareness and cross-cultural understanding

Phelps Luck Elementary SchoolElementary School Model Tele-Health • Goal – Promote Health and Well Being Among Students While Providing Another Layer of Service to our PLES Families • Optional Participation (Parental Discretion) • Site Based Acute Care Diagnosis • Strep Throat • Ear Infections • Rash Identification • Eye Infections • Chest Infections (Upper Respiratory Infections)

Phelps Luck Elementary SchoolElementary School Model Tele-Health • Partnership with Howard County Health Department, Howard County General Hospital Emergency Room Doctors and area pediatricians • Insurance/medical assistance will be billed. Like going to your pediatrician. • Consent Needed In Order to Participate Tele-Health, No Examination Would Ever Be Conducted Without Parent Notification • Parents Can Request to Be Present During Video Examination • Can Be Connected via Technology

What Are Gallup Strengths • Tool for development • Identifies “how you are wired” • Understand the lens through which you view the world • Common language to integrate within the organization • Maximize productivity • Where you find your energy vs. what exhausts you • NOT labeling • NOT an excuse to not do/try something because it is not your strength

Phelps Luck Elementary SchoolMAP Assessments • MAP – Measure of Academic Performance • MAP assessments are aligned to the national Common Core Standards for Mathematics and Reading. • It is a multiple-choice assessment. • MAP will be administered 3 times per year to students in grades 1-5. • Provides a preliminary benchmark of college and career readiness

Phelps Luck Elementary SchoolMAP Assessments • Designed to measure student growth, both during the school year and across multiple school years. • MAP will be taken on the computer and adapts to each individual student. • As the students answer questions correctly, the questions become more challenging. • Since each question is based on how the student performed on the previous questions, students cannot go back to questions they’ve already answered, and they can’t skip any questions. .

Phelps Luck Elementary SchoolMAP Reports • Compares how student performed compared with HCPSS and national peers. • Student Progress Report goes home to families – 1st Quarter Report Cards, Mid-Year and with the 4th Quarter Report Cards. • Norm Referenced Reports • Testing Window for the Fall MAP Testing is September 21-October 21. .

Phelps Luck Elementary SchoolPARCC Assessments • Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers • The PARCC assessment is administered between April 4th and May 13th to grades 3-8. • The PARCC assessment measures student’s achievement in English Language (ELA) Literacy and Mathematics based on the learning standards contained in the Common Core State Standards. .

Phelps Luck Elementary SchoolMSA Science • The Maryland School Assessment is a measure of student achievement in science in grade 5 (testing content from grades 4 and 5) • The test will be administered over 2 days in March. • Students take the test in test booklets. • Only given to fifth grade students. .

Phelps Luck Elementary School School Wide Title One Designation • Increased flexibility to meet the various needs demonstrated by all our students. • Increased allocation of funds to PLES. • Increased flexibility in fund utilization. • Family Programs offered throughout the year. • Table in the lobby with more info or on our website.
