ETDE Highlights • Next year will be 25th anniversary for ETDE • Currently, have 14 member countries, plus one country with database access provisions • Close to 100 developing countries granted free access; a few since last meeting have moved into higher World Bank ranking, so no longer eligible • Encourage and welcome membership interest – subscription option coming, too
Current statistics ETDEWEB currently has over 4.56 million citations Over 434,000 PDFs (plus now some videos (see later topic)) Well over a million doi’s and other links to full text around the world Coverage of WEC conference completed soon (final French items translated by CA)
Usage Usage continues to grow; smaller number of individual logins and more IP and domain access 2011 – year of federated search – a few other systems searching ETDEWEB with metasearch; WorldWideScience, GetInfo, EBSCO, SerialSolutions Finally making progress, we think, with Google
System Enhancements since 12th JTC Narrow your search by adding… OpenURL capability Translation Tool Submit paper option Automatic federated searching for journals and other key resources in easy search Alerts capability (simple registration) for IP and domain users
Other activities Google comparison study (now in Spanish, too) Looking at new media types and mobile applications (discussed later on the agenda) Facebook, other social media explored Subgroup to look at ways to generate interest, including site update, subscription Further partnerships and new members welcomed!
