Georgia Recovery and Reinvestment Plan • GOWD and statewide partners • 24 Golden Opportunities grants to improve Work Ready Certificate levels • 38 Georgia Libraries awarded gap training software • Gap Training grants to 54 Georgia high schools • GOWD and Local WIA working together • Basic computer training to prepare for WRC and using skills gap training • GOWD and economic development • Certified Work Ready facilities • GOWD and Weatherization • Profiling critical jobs
Other GOWD Initiatives… • Microsoft® Elevate America • 25,900 electronic vouchers distributed to Georgians • Offers free training in Office and IT; and free Microsoft® certification exams • Distribution is through GWR website, 10 WIA’s and 6 Goodwill centers
Outlook for 2010 - Sustainability • CWRC’s – successful counties will be awarded grants to continue Work Ready efforts • Requiring involvement of Chambers and LDA’s • Branding of the “CWRC” logo • Business Recognition form • All goals to be posted on website (including post-cert) • WRR’s – sustainability achieved through the creation of 501c3’s and industry network sustainability through the creation of the Georgia Work Ready Regional Industry Network • Legislation…
