  4. Review T-P-S • What problem does Wallace have? • How do you predict Wallace will deal with this problem?

  5. Learning about Characters T-P-S • Do characters learn anything from dealing with conflicts in the story? • What can you learn from reading about characters struggling with conflicts? In other words, what do you get out of reading about other people’s problems? • In stories like No More Dead Dogs, you can read about what goes on in a character’s head as he or she deals with a problem. What can you learn from this?

Listening • What have the characters learned since the start of the story? • Listen to pgs 151-157. • T-P-S • How can you tell that Trudi’s attitude toward Wallace has changed? • Why are Trudi’s negative feelings about Wallace so strong? • Do you think Trudi has learned anything from this experience? What has she learned?

  7. Conflict T-P-S • As this point in the story, with what conflicts or problems is Wallace struggling? • How does Wallace deal with these conflicts? What does he decide to do? • Wallace says, “Maybe no one else in this town understood loyalty, but I did.” What does Wallace mean by this?

  9. Read157 to the break on 150 silently. • What do you think Wallace learns about loyalty and commitment during the story? What experiences does he learn from? (write) • Give an example of figurative language in today’s reading. Identify the type, and evaluate its effectiveness. • On page 160, Wallace says about Cavanaugh, “Now there was a guy who belonged in drama. His whole life was an award-winning performance.” What do you think Wallace means by this? • Wallace has misjudged Rick in several ways. What does Wallace learn about Rick?
