  3. DoCS Commitments • Grow and strengthen Aboriginal OOHC services • Enhance funding to the sector by more than $30 million over 3 years • Create more than 200 additional placements with scope for further in the longer-term.

Rational behind the Aboriginal OOHC Services Capacity Building Initiative • Culturally appropriate placements are provided for Aboriginal children and young people in OOHC • Aboriginal children and young people in OOHC are provided with placements that have linkages to their communities and families • Aboriginal agencies are in a stronger position to represent their communities

  5. Aboriginal OOHC Services Capacity Building Initiative • Phase One (2006): • Original Aboriginal OOHC service providers • Phase Two (2008): • Additional Aboriginal Services to address gaps.

Aim of the Aboriginal OOHC Services Capacity Building Initiative • The aim of the Aboriginal OOHC Services Capacity Building Initiative is to work with Aboriginal OOHC service providers to build on existing service provision to become strong and sustainable providers of OOHC for Aboriginal children and young people.

Process behind Phase one of the Aboriginal OOHC Services Capacity Building Initiative • Analyse current service capacity and growth potential • Strengthen the capacity of the sector • Agree performance based Service Specification and all inclusive funding • Achieve sustainable placement growth
