  2. Windows Vista • There are officially 7 different versions of windows vista. You will probably only see about 5 different versions. • What are the versions: • Windows Vista Home Basic • Windows Vista Home Premium • Windows Vista Home Business • Windows Vista Home Enterprise (UWG – On Campus) • Windows Vista Ultimate (UWG personal use)

  4. Which Vista Version is right for me? • Comparison of Vista versions • Upgrade paths • I don’t recommend upgrading, but it is an option. I always recommend a clean install.

  5. How do I get a copy of Windows Vista and Office 2007 for personal use? • How many copies of Windows Vista and Office 2007 can I have? • 1 of each!! (1 license key) • This is for AT HOME USE ONLY and is not to be installed on your office computer!!!! If you do you will be in violation of your MCA agreement!! • You must obtain permission from your Technology staff to get it on your office computer

Instructions on requesting Windows Vista and Office 2007 for personal use • www.westga.edu/~mca then click on the request software link. • Follow the directions on the page. • Send an email to mca@westga.edu stating that you would like to request your copy of Windows Vista and/or Office 2007. • If the lease is valid you will receive a reply email with both an Agreement Form and a Pickup Slip.

  7. Instructions continued… • The user should then print, complete and bring the Agreement Form and Pick-up Slip to the Learning Resources Center. • At the Learning Resource Center the Assistant will verify that the forms are complete, accept payment and assign the appropriate MCA software to the User.

  8. MCA Tidbits • You can only receive 1 license of Vista (either Mac or PC) and 1 license of Office 2007. • You must pickup your own License and Media from LRC with your Faculty/Staff ID in hand. • Payment must be in the form of cash or check.

  9. Students • Students can pickup there copy at the SITS center. http://www.westga.edu/~sits/ • Location: Cobb Hall, Room 122 • Monday-Thursday: 9am-7pm, Friday: 9am-5pm • Phone: (678) 839-6587 • Must bring your Student ID, and it is at no charge to students.

  10. When do I get Vista and Office 2007 at work? • As of right now the plan is to roll out Windows Vista and Office 2007 for all computers in the Fall of 2008. (this is subject to change) • In case you missed it the first time…You CANNOT install your personal copy of Vista and/or Office 2007 on your office computer. This will violate your MCA agreement and campus standards.

  12. Office 2007 File extensions • Office 2007 is different in a lot of ways, but the file extensions is probably the biggest change. • The plan, for now, is to use the new file extensions when Office 2007 is deployed at the University.

  13. Other Differences • No more drop down menu’s, now there is the Ribbon Tab, as it is called. • DEMO TIME!!!!!!
