  3. The Implication of the Gospel @ the Workplace

  4. The Implication of the Gospel @ the Workplace Eph. 6:5-9 Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ. Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart. Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men, because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free.

  5. The Implication of the Gospel @ the Workplace Eph. 6:5-9 And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.

  6. 1. “Side Point” : Gospel & Slavery? • Why chose slavery as application? • The Gospel does not condone slavery • The Gospel seeks total transformation • The Gospel abolished slavery

  7. “ The NT teaching does not focus on reforming and restructuring human systems, which are never the root cause of human problems. The issue is always with the heart- which, when wicked, will corrupt the best of systems, and, when righteous, will improve the worst. If men’s hearts are not changed, they will find ways to oppress others regardless of whether or not there is actual slavery.” - John MacArthur
