  1. Implementation of IMI pilot DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs Unit B.1

Principles of registration Gradual registration is advisable: • Don't register all possible authorities, but on a need basis • At least 1 authority needs to be registered from the start of the pilot, which can take care of incoming requests • And make sure that the authorities you haven't registered also know about IMI Ensure coordination at national level contact of national IMI coordinators: http://ec.europa.eu/internal_market/imi-net/contact/index_en.htm

  3. Step 1 – Identify authorities Which can send IMI requests • Identify contracting authorities Which can receiveIMI requests • Identify which authorities will be able to answer the questions (authorities issuing national standards, labels; tax authorities, social security authorities etc.)

  4. Step 2 – Will they be frequent users? Frequent users • Possibly frequent users • Decide whether or not register to IMI from start • Confirmed frequent users • Register them to IMI

  5. Step 2 (cont.) Occasional users • Central contact points are registered to IMI, which collect information and answer questions, OR • Register authority once it needs to use IMI Make sure that they know how to deal with European economic operators and hear about IMI and what it can offer

  6. Step 3 - Raising awareness Think about already existing communication channels and how to add IMI related points • Events: Workshops/meetings/conferences/training courses • Online communication: Newsletters/emailing, publications, website update (add IMI-related information) • Target: e.g. potential contracting authorities, national public procurement authority, replying authorities etc. • Implement a reference to administrative cooperation Commission will provide 1-page guidelines to authorities in all EU lang.

  7. What if the authority is not in IMI? The receiving authority can: • Collect the information and reply on behalf of the non-registered authority, OR • Make sure that the authority gets registered (by contacting the IMI coordinator) and forward the request, OR • Forwardthe request to the IMI coordinator

  8. Next steps • Think about the registration  COM will send detailed instructions • Think about awareness raising COM will send a 1-page guide • COM will organise on 16 April a kick-off training event, 2 participants per country COM will send more info
