Februar 1898 in Kuortane, Finnland Machte sein Architekten-Examen an der Technischen Universität in Helsinki im Jahre 1921 Hatte ein eigenes Atelier, zuerst in Jyväskylä, dann in Turku und später in Helsinki Kompagnon seit 1924 war die Architektin Aino Aalto,gestorben im Jahre 1949, Kompagnon seit 1952 die Architektin Elissa Aalto Seit 1958 ist Professor Alvar Aalto ein außerordentliches Mitglied der Akademie der Künste
