WHERE ARE WE NOW? “IF YOU DON'T LIKE SOMETHING, CHANGE IT. IF YOU CAN'T CHANGE IT, CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE.” MAYA ANGELOU
FIVE KEY STEPS • CONSISTENCY • CLARITY • TEACHING • LEARNING • A FRESH PAIR OF EYES
1. CONSISTENCY • Annual results and outcomes • AS foundation • Within school variation and departments - look at 3 year trend
2. CLARITY • Communication - everyone in the loop • Expectation • Use sixth form tutor team
3. TEACHING • Need to invest in planning our KS5 lessons • Learning needs to have same focus - active, not lecture • Departmental approach
4. LEARNING • Induction - how to make step up to KS5 • 5 hours independent work per subject - make it meaningful and visible - what's the sanction? • Attention to detail and follow up
5. A FRESH PAIR OF EYES • A shared commitment to do something differently • Sixth form review - 19th-20th October "Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success." Henry Ford
