Standards for health care • Providing Standards for: • AIDC Application Standards for 90% of medical products • AIDC Application Standards for small instruments • Healthcare extension in next GDSN release • Global Traceability Standard for Healthcare • GTIN Allocation Rules for Healthcare • Guideline for plasma derivatives • Key projects: • Patient Safety and the Healthcare supply chain (AIDC) • Global Registry of Locations (GLN registry) • GDSN in Healthcare • Traceability in heathcare (EFPIA guidelines)

GS1 experience • Hospital audits on: • Supply chain collaboration • Patients identification • Medical products and drugs identification • Patients safety (drugs vs. patients) • To be achieved: • Full traceability in health • Medical products and drugs authentication (anti counterfeiting directive) • EFPIA collaboration on databar coding for safety

GS1 in action • Objectives for JIC • Develop collaborations and synergies so that standard development efforts are shared, interoperable, etc. • GS1 is member of JIC • Has been invited to join in 2009; active participation since 2010 • Current achievement – projects • Visibility for GS1, recognition of GS1’s role in healthcare • Involvement in projects relevant to GS1, such as Patient ID International Health Terminology SDO Clinical Data Interchange Standards Consortium International Organisation for Standardization European Committee for Standardization Health Level 7
