GERB-4 Detector StatusOliver Blake and John RemediosUniversity of Leicester • Focal Plane Assembly status • Comparison of FM#2 and FM#3 • Time constants • Response • Noise • Summary and further work
Focal Plane Assembly Status • FPA FM (Flight Model) #3 – Calibration procedure completed, but FPA sustained accidental damage and is not now usable for flight • FPA FM#2 has been selected as the new flight model • Honeywell blacked (GERB2-3) FM#3 has been selected for the flight spare
Comparison of FM#2 and FM#3 • Following slides show a comparison of FM#2 with FM#3 for which it is the selected replacement for flight • Both FM#2 and FM#3 have a missing pixel (pixel 129) • In addition, FM#2 has a pixel (77) which responds differently to others, and is likely to be unusable
Summary and further work • FM#2 has been selected as a replacement for the damaged FM#3 Focal Plane Assembly • Calibration will begin shortly (once window transmission measurements are completed) • Expected timescale is ~3 months • Calibration of flight spare (Honeywell blacked FM3) will follow • Life testing of blacking samples will be carried out concurrently (humidity)
