OC Areas of Focus • VGS needs to have further discussions with OC to flesh out some details on areas of focus • One option: use available funding to contractor out studies • Drafting scopes of work
Operating Reserve Requirements • Goal: Recommend methodology for assessing VG reserve requirements • Will work with NREL to validate the reserve requirement methodologies • NREL is developing a new model: • Flexible Energy Scheduling Tool for Integration of Variable Generation (FESTIV)
VG Forecasting Practices • Goal: provide recommendations regarding best practices for central VG forecasting systems • Compiling results of detailed surveys • Effort performed through NREL contracts • Final recommendations expected early Spring
REC Market White Paper • Overview of REC markets/RPS standards and their ramifications on reliability • VGS sought OC input on subsection related to operating concerns and reliability risks • Will be published early 2012
Market Mechanisms to Integrate VG • In 2011 VGS MWG issued a whitepaper on market mechanisms to integrate VG • Will issue a 2012 addendum to provide updates
