Renewable Energy Transmission Task Force(RTTF) RTTF Chairman: Peter Krzykos November 3 2009
Overview • Past Meetings • 5/12/2009 – Created three transmission maps • 5/20/2009 – Created a single transmission map. • Single Transmission map with Mileage and estimated costs • Queue Update • BTA Process • Next Steps
Past Meetings 2009 • Two meetings conducted (May 12th and 22nd) • May 12th meeting • Attended by ~40 utility, developer, and agency representatives • Divided into three groups to develop state-wide renewable transmission options based on ARRTIS data, interconnection requests, etc. • May 22nd meeting • Assimilated options into a single set of potential renewable transmission corridors • Discussed next steps/technical flow studies, etc.
Segment Mileage and Estimated Cost • WGA WREZ model used for construction and right of way costs. • Construction cost: $1.8 Million per mile • Right of Way cost: $0.23 Million per mile
BTA-Utility Evaluation Process Individual Utility Evaluation of Renewable Resource and Transmission Options • Example Inputs to Economic Evaluation: • Resource Cost • Water Availability • Resource Capacity Available • Capacity & Energy Benefits • Transmission Cost • Timing Utility Coordination & Common Projects Identification • Policy Issues: • Funding Mechanisms • Cost Recovery • Siting Constraints • Export Markets File “Top 3” along with plans and funding mechanisms (Due 10/31/09) RTTF Group Work RTTF Finance Group Work Input from Workshops RTTF ARRTIS Group Work 2008 BTA Order 70635 2006 BTA Order 69389

Next Steps • No later than October 31st – Utilities will present their projects to the ACC. • RTTF will develop study plan to evaluate reliability of Arizona transmission system based on proposed projects to the ACC.
October Filing • APS took into consideration the input from the two workshops, the ARRTIS’s work, the Finance Subcommittee's work, and RTTF’s work. • Based upon its analyses ,APS identified the three RTPs ;
October Filing • A. Delaney to Palo Verde 500kV line • B. Palo Verde to North Gila 500kV #2 • C. Palo Verde to Liberty and Gila Bend to Liberty • D.Additionaly, APS included the Delaney to Blythe project (Arizona Portion of DeversII)
