Hints for a campus visit • Tour the campus/town • Meet with an admission rep on campus and/or CCC • Verify admission requirements/deadlines • Consider type of school and degrees offered • Ask about scholarship/financial aid opportunities and deadlines • Attend a class to get an idea of academic atmosphere • Visit dorms, dining halls, library, etc • Campus activities • Support services • Talk to students/faculty

JR/SR Options Students may request applications for the following opportunities: Service Learning-Lloyd Herring Dual Enrollment -counselor Dual Credit-classroom teachers Cadet Teaching-counselor Marketing and Business Internships- for students that are concurrently enrolled in the M/B classes, teacher approval needed

AP Advanced Placement- check course guide for class offerings and check with universities for their minimum score requirements on AP exams ( Spring exam schedule) Dual Credit (3.0 GPA) college credit through local university systems on South High campus Dual Enrollment (3.0 GPA) Maintain enrollment at South High and enroll/travel to St. Louis Community College or Maryville University campus for college classes. College Credit

  19. Student Athletes • Interested in playing NCAA Division I or Division II sports? You must register online at ncaaclearinghouse.net. • NOTE THIS CHANGE:High School Academic Eligibility: Students must now pass 6 out of 7 classes in Spring ’09 to be eligible for Fall ’09 sports. • (MSHSAA-MO State High School Athletic Assoc.)

  20. Looking ahead: Senior YearCollege application process • Students begin applying to colleges in August of their Senior year • Counselors will review application if requested. Some applications consist of one page, while others may require recommendations, essays, personal statements, and resumes • Applications may be completed online through college websites, commonapp.org or universalcollegeapp.com • BLUE FORM: 18? Student may sign their own transcript release form. Under 18? Parents must sign the release form.

  21. Research Financial Aid In a nutshell: Financial aid makes up the difference between what college costs and what a family can afford to pay.
