Regulation of school feeding programm:Inpres number 1 year 1997 all central and local government to allocate the budget for program of additional food for schoolchildren.
General Goal Increase students' physical fitness through improved nutrition and health situation to encourage interest and learning ability of children in order to support the achievement of Compulsory Basic Education Program Nine years.
Specific goal • Improve the nutritional status of students (elementary and junior school), increased interest in learning reduce student absenteeism and repetition as well as reducing the number of children who drop out of school. • Support the food diversification • Develop healthy behavior from early stage of children • Encourage the economic development of the people through the utilization of local agricultural products, • Encourage the active participation of communities in the implementation of children's education by paying attention to nutrition and health situation,
Scope of regulation • This program applied for children in elementary school (six grade) and junior high school (3 grade) • The Type of additional food that should be provided • Implementation of the program • Presenting Organization
Function of central government: • Formulating the national planning for for program of additional food for school children (determine the program and budget) • Provide and distributing the finance for the program • Establish the guidance to implement the program • Establish the technical guidance of additional food safety for schoolchildren and monitoring the quality and safety of the food that provided for the program • Establish guidance to monitor the improvement and development of interest learning of children • Function of Local government: • Conduct general assistance to the implementation of the program in respective area • Coordinating and controlling the planning and implementation of the program
Categories of schoolchildren Children in elementary school (six grade) and junior high school (3 grade). Range for their age is 6-14 years.
Types of foodstuffs • Type of the food is not complete foods such as rice, but a snack food or snacks with remains attention to aspects of quality and food safety. • The food should use local materials and agricultural products, not allow using food ingredients or industrial products purchased or imported from the other area, such as milk powder, milk cans, milk cartons, instant noodles.
Types of foodstuffs • The Food must contain a minimum energy of 300 calories and 5 grams of protein for each children in every day of the program. • The foodis given at least 3 times a week or as long as 108 days of study effective in one year.
National Food programme for school children • Children vulnerable from food safety • Children most consume the food that service in surrounding school • The quality (nutrition) and safety of the food that served are our concern • The vendor of food are from SME’s with lack of food safety and quality awareness • This programme start from 2010 cooperation with ministry of health, society welfare coordinator ministry, national agency of food and drug control and school community, ministry education
