Rencontre Mercator -Météo-France, Toulouse, 14 Juin 2010 EUMETSAT EUMETSAT, intergovernmental organisation created in 1986, is the European operational satellite agency for monitoring weather, climate and environment. EUMETSAT operates a system of meteorological satellites monitoring the atmosphere and ocean and land surfaces which deliver weather and climate-related satellite data, images and products – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This information is supplied to the National Meteorological Services of the organisation's 21 Member and nine Cooperating States in Europe, as well as other users worldwide. • The SAFs • The SAFs (Satellite application Facility) were created by EUMETSAT in order to enrich its • ground segment and to take benefit from the local expertize of its member states. • There are now 8 SAFs : • SAF on Support to Nowcasting and Very Short Range Forecasting • Ocean and Sea Ice SAF • Climate Monitoring SAF • Numerical Weather Prediction SAF • Land Surface Analysis SAF • Ozone and Atmospheric Chemistry Monitoring SAF • GRAS Meteorology SAF • SAF on Support to Operational Hydrology and Water Management
Host Institute Co-operating institutes DMI, IFREMER, KNMI, Met.no, M-F/CMS : R&D and Production SMHI : R&D The OSI SAF The OSI SAF was created in 1997 as an answer to requirements from the meteorological communities of EUMETSAT Member States and Co-operating States for a comprehensive information derived from meteorological satellites at the ocean-atmosphere interface. Since, the oceanographic community needs have been also taken into account. • Brief history • - Development phase from 1997 to 2002 • - Initial Operational Phase (IOP) from July 2002 • to March 2007 • CDOP ( Continuous Development and Operations • Phase) from March2007 to February 2012 • - Next phase (CDOP-2, 2012 – 2017) under preparation One main objective : produce, control and distribute operationally in near real-time Quality controled products using available satellite data, with the necessary Users Support activities, and R&D effort Rencontre Mercator -Météo-France, Toulouse, 14 Juin 2010

Il est recommandé à ceux-ci de s’enregistrer sur .www.osi-saf.org www.osi-saf.org Any question about the OSI SAF ? www.eumetsat.int Any question about EUMETSAT ?
