Basic Principles • Collaborative research project between an Australian University and a Partner Organisation (PO) • PO(s) Private, Non-Profit or Government Sector Domestic or International • Both the ARC and the PO(s) will be directly providing funding for the project • PO(s) will provide cash and in-kind support
Types of Investigators • Chief Investigator (CI) • Partner Investigator (PI) • Australian Postdoctoral Fellow Industry (APDI) • Linkage Industry Fellow (LIF)
General Timeline • November: Submit proposal • January: Respond to assessor reports • April: Receive results • July: Funding available • By June 2013: Final project commencement date
Selection Criteria • Investigators (20%) • Proposed Project Content (50% made up of) • Significance and Innovation (25%) • Approach and Training (15%) • Research Environment (10%) • Nature of the Alliance and commitment from Partner Organisations (30%)
Funding • 2 to 5 years commencing 1 July 2012 • Min. $30,000 p.a. ↔ max. $500,000 p.a. • Project personnel (RAs, technicians, lab attendants) • Postdoctoral Fellows • MA and PhD students • Teaching relief • Temporary Transfer of Personnel • Project costs
Project Costs • Equipment • Maintenance • Access to Workshop services • Travel for project personnel • Publication and dissemination of project outputs
Partner Organisation Contributions • PO contributions for a Proposal (combined cash + in-kind), must at least match the total amount sought from the ARC • If a Proposal is seeking less than $500k p.a. from the ARC, the combined PO Cash Contributions must be at least 20% of the total amount sought from the ARC • If a Proposal is seeking $500k p.a. or more, the combined PO Cash Contributions must be at least 50% of the total amount sought from the ARC
